Lancaster County TreeVitalize Metros Program

The Lancaster County Conservation District and LIVE Green announce the Lancaster County Treevitalize Metros program.   TreeVitalize Metros has a goal of increasing tree canopy cover in the metropolitan areas of Pennsylvania.  The program provides technical assistance and matching grants to communities for tree-planting to help establish urban forest management programs.

TreeVitalize is a partnership of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), PA Community Forests, Penn State Extension Urban Forestry, and local municipalities.   The program will be administered locally through a partnership between the Lancaster County Conservation District and LIVE Green.

Funds, up to $15,000 can be awarded to municipalities or municipal agencies.  Trees may be planted within the public right-of-way or within parks and greenways open to the public.  Application deadline is March 1, 2012 for plantings to be completed during the fall of 2012.  For complete program guidelines and application or questions please contact Fritz Schroeder, Director of Programs for LIVE Green fritz@livegreenlancaster.org, 717-392-7891 ext. 207.
